This policy explains what HoustonFuneralGuide.com (“we”, “the site”) collects, why, and your choices. The site is an independent directory operated in the United States.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-RML17W6BK1) to understand how the site is used — pages viewed, general location (country / region, derived by Google from IP address, which Google truncates), device type, and interactions such as searches, filter use, and clicks on a provider’s phone, website, or directions links. We also record when someone starts or completes the cost calculator or comparison tool, or submits the claim or advertiser form. These interaction events do not include your name, email address, phone number, or any text you typed into a form. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google’s privacy policy.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics sets cookies to measure repeat visits. The comparison tool and some preferences (such as a remembered filter) may use your browser’s local storage; that data stays in your browser and is not sent to us. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the site still works.
Server logs
Our web host records standard access logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested, browser user-agent) for security and troubleshooting. These are retained by the host for a limited period and are not used to build advertising profiles.
Forms
The claim / correction form and advertiser inquiries are sent to us by email. We use the information only to review the request and, if needed, contact the business to verify it. We do not sell this information. Please do not submit sensitive personal, medical, financial, or identity information, or information about a deceased individual, through any form on this site.
Outbound click measurement
When you click a provider’s phone, website, or directions link, we record that a click of that type happened on that listing (for traffic reporting and, for enhanced listings, a monthly activity summary for that business). We do not record who you are, and a recorded click is not a phone call, appointment, or lead.
Advertising
Some placements are paid and are clearly labeled. Paid outbound links use
rel="sponsored". We do not currently run third-party display-ad networks or
retargeting pixels on this site.
Data retention and your choices
Analytics data is retained according to our GA4 settings (currently 14 months for user/event data). Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request. To ask what we hold about a correspondence with you, or to request deletion of an email thread, contact [email protected].
Children
The site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Not a HIPAA-covered entity
We are an independent directory, not a healthcare provider or funeral provider, and we do not make HIPAA representations. Do not send us protected health information.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
